child in a Social Skills Group will help nurture and develop their
abilities to interact more harmoniously with their friends,
teachers, and siblings, in your home, in school and other social
situations. The compelling and important skills learned in this
class will help your child succeed and will enable them to feel more
confident and less frustrated.
Dr. Rene, the Social Skills Group is designed to improve your child’s ability to:
manage and communicate emotions in healthy and respectful manner
better impulse control and appropriate manners
share and take turns
causes and consequences of emotions
Negotiate and manage conflict
decisions and follow directions
and deal with anger and aggression
in competition by being a good sport, learning to win and lose
classes are fun and interactive. Children will have weekly homework
activity to complete with parents to reinforce what they learn in
class. Activities include movement games, art activities, puppet
shows and story time to teach the weekly topic.
Requirement – your child must be at least three years old, and no
older than nine years old, when beginning the Social Skills Group.
Classes are held for 3- to 4-year-olds, 5- to 6-year-olds, and 7- 9-year-olds.
The curriculum is modified to be age appropriate.
Our Look, Listen, and Learn is a play-based program with activities that build attention span, impulse control, planning, goal setting and accomplishment and sequencing skills.
